Alexander Sandford

Professional Summary

I am studying Computer Games Technology at The University of Portsmouth. I have over 5 years of coding experience with a variety of languages.

Skills

  • I have multiple years of experience working with Swift, C# and Python and have been coding in C++ since September 2019.
  • Experience in all aspects of game creation from 3D modelling to design.
  • Can work efficiently in a team to complete a specific goal.
  • Can learn from advice and apply it and adapt well to new ideas and styles of programming.

Experience

University Projects – I was the main coder on our first two group game assignments, the secondary coder on the third; all coding in Unity using C#. I am currently one of the two main coders for our final group project using Unreal Engine 4.

A-Level – For my Computer Science dissertation, using Xcode I created an educational app for learning mathematics, proposed for usage primarily on smartphones and tablets. The user is asked questions on multiplication tables, assessed on how they perform timewise, then have subsequent levels adjusted accordingly. There is an element of autobiography in this; I proposed this project following a paper version I used as a primary school student, which I found particularly useful for tackling the extra challenges posed by dyslexia.

During July/August 2018, I pursued a placement, also in educational software at Imperial College, “3D Game Development with Unity.” This enabled me to use C#, where I enjoyed the challenge of finding solutions to errors in my code and seeing how development and debugging in Microsoft’s Visual Studio environment compares to Apple’s XCode.
